ajfield 0 Posted January 3, 2017 Hi, I've done some extensive searching and have come up with nothing, so I'm posting this question. I have a Swann 16 channel NVR unit, the one that comes with 8 cameras from Costingtons (as I call it). I know people may have varied opinions on it, I've found it to be reliable and easy to work in the 18 months I've owned it. I want to add a HDTV video feed to act as one of the IP camera inputs. In my mind, dusting off my EE degree from 17 years ago, I would think what I need is a tuner that takes an antenna input from over-the-air, tunes a digital channel, and then outputs it as an IP data stream that the NVR would "see" as a camera. The problem is, what device does this? Does one exist? Why? on a 9x9 (or 4x4, whatever) grid of images on the kitchen TV, I have a blank space that would be great to monitor a TV channel and other cameras. Any ideas? almelst 1 Posted January 5, 2017 You need an HD video encoder (like Hikvision's DS-6601HFHI). It can convert several HD video signal standards (including HDMI from your TV tuner) to IP protocol so you get the picture source acting as an IP camera. Price? It's another story ... tomcctv 190 Posted January 5, 2017 Hi. It is not easy and would cost you more than you CCTV system cost. And on top of that you would not have any audio so you would be wasting money. You would also have to add lots of hardrives to cope with the tv data. You would be best adding a 9th camera ......
