Sabre 0 Posted June 19, 2006 I've never done anything like this before so please bear with me. I'm after a decent quality IR camera to use in the front of my car so that it will put the image up on a 7" screen inside. It's a gimmick but still I'd like it to work as well as possible. I Think I've narrowed the choice down to two cameras which in my inexperienced opinion seem to be alright but I'd appreciate some opinions. Opt 1 = Approx £130 Opt 2 = Approx £130 Opt 3 = Approx £200 (Products -> Cameras, choose Day/Night Cameras choose the 'VIS404' Also could someone please explain lens sizes, since it's for a car I suspect that wider is better but I don't want fish eye on the image so am I better going for a higher or lower mm rating? Many thanks in advance. [/url]
securitymonster 0 Posted June 19, 2006 Those cameras should work fine. The less you spend, the shorter period of time the camera will last. (meaning you get what you pay for) You probably want a lens between 3.4mm to 6.0mm, anything in between that will be fine for you. Also, the headlights from your car at night should be enough light for the camera to see so you may not need an infrared camera. A cheap IR camera will probably give you problems when it thinks there isn't enough light when there really is. wherever you purchase your camera, make sure you can send it back if its not the camera your looking for!
