h20wakebum 0 Posted January 30, 2017 So Lorex is recommending that if I need 120 feet that I buy a 120 ft. cat5e cable rather than using two 60 ft cables connected together. Does this have ANY Merit? As it's digital I don't see how/why it would make a difference, i trust the community members more than a manufacturer... is what they're saying legit or BS? mattaggie 0 Posted January 30, 2017 its always best to have as few transitions as possible. So yes one cable is more reliable than 2. Thats not to say 2 cables wouldnt work just fine. Its just one more spot for something to go wrong.
Securame 0 Posted January 30, 2017 What mattaggie said. If you already have the 2pc 60 feet cable, give it a try. If you have to buy it, get a 120 feet cable.
jeromephone 6 Posted February 11, 2017 do not splice it, but use a coupler I am guessing you have plugs on each end
Nigel79 0 Posted March 3, 2017 What they said and something else to think about is the coupler easy to get to? If it is somewhere you dont want to ever mess with again after everything is installed than run the 120ft. If you want you can buy the wire in bulk and crimp on your own connecters. Im sure there is a youtube video on how to do it.
