I saw some incredible stuff in Europe at IFSEC this past month trying to dig through my bags to find the names of the product. But some good equipment that "appeared" to be the answer to the Enteprise solution. Coming from Taiwan I believe. Embedded solution too, with the Enhanced Wavelet Technology tying into RAID arrays.

ill take a look at those mentioned and their enterprise products, and get back to you on that.

Vigilant, looks like a small pc company, so no would not be a choice for something like a casino. Although their product specs seem good, just never heard of them and their web site does not make them look all that good.

 

Lorinex may, their information does not explain what they can do well enough though.

 

Nice on the other hand, has 96 30pps inputs per unit, and 24 audio inputs, so that one is good. However, the question is how many days recording can you get with 96 cameras on their internal hard disk.

 

Clear Cast has 8 inputs per unit (capture station), guarantees 30 days at 30pps real time. You get longer recordings with an option of different storage devices. There are 8 video & 8 audio per unit, and rackmounted the software supports thousands of cameras.

 

Dont know if this helps, but unless the clear cast price goes down I doubt I will be selling that at a luxury home, as the features it has are not needed in any home.

 

Maybe someone else with more experience with PC or enterprise systems and these name brands mentioned can give a better opinion on this all.

 

They all actually look good, would like to know some approx pricing on all of them, comments, etc.

Just take a close look at the Pelco material DX-range.

I dont actually know, its not in my current kalatel dealer pricing, I guess its still new. Waiting on an updated one.

you mentioned not knowing Vigilant technology and wondering if they have been around long enough. Just FYI, this is the group that is part of Adyoron in Israel. this is the company who developed and sold the software key to an enterprise class to Pelco's DX9000 system. I used to work with NICE and I knew of the Adyoron/Vigilant system.

Rory, post some pricing in the dealer section when you get that big DVR pricing. I'm curious as to how much it is. I used to represent PI Vision which is a big enterprise class DVR and those ran into the hundred thousand and up category. I got out of that side of the business since it took months to even get specified and even then you had not sure thing.

Yes, same here, only places like Casinos/Airports would ever need them, and those guys that do casinos have huge warehouses where they build the matrix systems and test fully before they 'truck' them to the casino, I hear it is a year or so process for new casinos including wiring.

from what I can tell from online stores, etc, Pelco doesnt seem to be a big player in the DVR business, correct me if I am wrong ofcourse, I do live in the 3rd world here and only rely on the internet.

Nice and Loronix are great for single site installations but try and manage 1000 units and you are going to need a full-time team of people.

Can these products compete on e.g. stability, compression, recording speed, ...

March Networks is based on Embedded Linux as opposed to Windows. They came from the Broadband world so the really understand how to transmit video (and audio if you use it) over the network effeciently. Great customer service and wide array of products that ALL use the same software interface.....not different software packages for different size systems.
