Swann NHD-819 Stand alone access

Last year we sent a member of staff to get a stand alone ip camera that we could access over our network (needed in a hurry) he came back with a swann NHD-819 as recommended in the local maplin. I never got round to using it till now, and its crippled by its firmware i assume, it will only work with a certain swann nvr???

Is there any way to use this camera either on a network or with hikvision nvr or is it a paper weight?

Hello. That camera model appears to be a high definition camera. So it would need to be connected to a high definition NVR or possibly a high definition DVR with a balun for the BNC connection. You can always check with Swann tech support.

Because I cant find it at all on a network,

Swann tech support where no help at all, I phoned and asked for the login ip address user name and password and was basically told NO

So how do I access it?

At home I use a Hikvision ds 7616NI-SE/P great bit of cheap kit

I'm trying to figure this out as well. Unfortunately, I'm not convinced so far that it's possible to connect one. So far, starting with a factory-reset SWNHD-819; camera connects / powers up over PoE and gets IP address (can see from router's DHCP client list). I then did an nmap scan of the IP which told me the following:

 

MAC Address: EC:71:--:--:--:-- (Shenzhen Baichuan Digital Technology)

OS details: Linux 2.6.32 - 3.10

Open ports: 9000/tcp

 

Port 9000 under IANA is something called cslistener which is nothing to do with CCTV/video. But only one open, so Swann must be doing something over this port. I tried all the usual streaming/MJEG URLs using ispyconnect to do this. It scans through a huge range of common rtsp / http stream locations (examples:http://www.ispyconnect.com/man.aspx?n=swann#). No services found, no connections possible. However, even if a normal stream location may exist, I don't have any login details that may be required. Thus I can't tell whether I just need logins, or the stream locations don't exist and something proprietary is listening for Swann NVRs only over the connection.

 

I have a feeling Swann have gone down the completely bespoke route. I'm going to give them a ring as well, but I'm not holding out much hope at the moment.

 

Does anyone have Wireshark to intercept packets between an 819 and it's NVR (or any recent IP-Swann cam that communicates over port 9000 only)? This would help understand what's going on.

Protocol over 9000 is completely proprietary on the 806. And my 819 doesn't have any other rtsp / onvif ports open like the 806; double checked with ODM (https://sourceforge.net/projects/onvifdm/). Damn.
