Email settings not working - Swann DVR

Hi

 

I've been setting up my system over the last couple of weeks. But for the life of me cannot get the email notifications working.

 

Settings in the screen shot. Am I missing anything? I just get test failed

 

One concern - do I have to open any more ports for email?

Hello. Google may block sign-in attempts from some apps or devices that do not use TLS.

Change your settings to allow less secure apps to access your account.

Go to the "Less secure apps" section in My Account.

https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps

Next to "Access for less secure apps," select Turn on.

An alternate port to try is 587 and neither needs to be forwarded.

 

Google considers this to be less secure, of course.

Thanks for the tip. I'd already turned off less secure.

 

Hadn't tried the alternative port but just did and no luck I'm afraid.

 

Any ideas? Coincidently my ddns also isn't updating when my IP address is rotated... not sure if that helps?

Thanks Brenton - so you mean a different email address entirely?

 

Any you'd recommend?

You don't need a different email address, just a different SMTP server. I switched from Gmail's to my internet service provider's but still use my Gmail address as the destination.
