billyh 0 Posted February 27, 2017 Hello and thank you in advance for help. I am installing a Reolink nvr with 8 camera ports and will connect 5 Reolink cameras (house is new construction). My goal is to hide the nvr in the house and have the camera monitor mounted on my office wall. the distance of the cable run between the two will be around 80 feet. Is the LAN port on the rear of the nvr for signal feed to the monitor? How am I able to control the nvr with a mouse in my office at that distance (or is the nvr controlled through my computer)? I will have an internet modem and wireless router in the office (away from the hidden nvr) This may be basic concepts for many of you, but this is my first home security system and I hope to get it right while the walls are open without drywall. Thanks again.
mattaggie 0 Posted February 28, 2017 "Is the LAN port on the rear of the nvr for signal feed to the monitor?" no, LAN port is to connect NVR to your network (router or switch). So you will need to run a cat5 cable from NVR to router. For video from NVR to monitor, you will need to run an HDMI cable from NVR to office wall. I'm not familiar with the reolink brand, but my guess is that you can control the NVR from your office computer. You will probably enter the IP address of your NVR in Internet explorer. LindsayHwang 0 Posted March 2, 2017 Hello, the Lan port is supposed to connect NVR with network. As for the access to NVR, you can remotely control it on Reolink Window/Mac Client which you can download from https://reolink.com/software-and-manual/. Besides, you also can access the NVR on Reolink iOS/Android Apps.
