Can't access NVR via Wifi on Phone, yet can via 4G

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have been sent a 2nd replacement router from my ISP. I have installed it and I can access the NVR on my laptop via Wifi. I can also access the NVR on my iPhone via 4G (IVMS-4500 app).

But I cannot access it on my iPhone via Wifi. This makes no sense to me.

On my new router, I have assigned a DMZ to the NVR. I believe I do not have to open the ports because of the assignment of the DMZ (?).

I went to canyouseeme.org and checked each of the ports 80, 554, 8000 & 443. All ports were open except for 443. I am not sure if this is related to the iPhone connection over WIFI problem. I tried to open the port just in case by selecting HTTPS (which I think is port 443?) and then the NVR's IP address. But it didn't work

Can you please tell me how to fix this?

Thanks!

Hi. Yes, the laptop and the iPhone are connecting to the same WIFI.

The laptop works, the iPhone doesn't. But the iPhone worked fine on WIFI before the router change. I have to keep switching onto 4G to get my iPhone to pick up the CCTV now.

Any idea what the problem is?

Hi. You need to switch off Dmz on your router never leave that open.

Go to network on your recorder and find its local IP

And add that to the iPhone app

Did you first set up your system with the p2p .... Barcode

I was playing around and have actually managed to get it working. I set the NVR's internal IP address as the IP Domain on the IVMS-4500 app. Problem is that when not on WIFI, I have to manually switch to external IP address, so its not ideal. Previously it was working through the DDNS, so it was picked up both at home and away without the need to switch IP addresses

Not sure if the systems was first set up with p2p, barcode. An installer set it up for me.

My original installer said that I should open the DMZ. Wondering why you mentioned that it should never be left open? Would that make me more open to hackers?

Also, would I have to open up the port 80, 8000, etc if switching off the DMZ?

thx
