bigtex 0 Posted April 14, 2017 First, thank you for your help. I am new to camera systems. I am going to install the system myself. I am pretty handy but technology not so much. I saw this Lorex Hd IP with PoE 6 camera system with 2TB NVR at Costco. $600 https://www.costco.com/Lorex-8-Channel-HD-IP-NVR-with-2TB-HDD%2c-6-3MP-Cameras-with-130'-Night-Vision.product.100337156.html I want it to send me a notification if there is motion detected on certain cameras. My questions are: 1) Is this even a good system. One comment by a purchaser was "I bought this one but only found it is almost identical to Q-See QC858 which was also sold by Costco.com (not available now). Lorex uses older firmware, lacking several features. The only feature I want from Lorex (motion detection live view) is not there (it is still in the user's manual though). Without this feature, I'd rather go with Q-See." 2) How could I tell if i can set it up to notify me if there is motion detected? 3) What are your thoughts in general? Don't do it! You should be looking at... Why in the world are you..... Just give me your two cents if any thoughts cross your mind. Any considerations I am too naive to even consider. Thanks. Reading your forum has taught me much already.
mattaggie 0 Posted April 15, 2017 Pretty much any system these days can notify you of motion detection. What you buy all depends on your needs Indoor vs outdoor bullet vs dome wide vs narrow field of view zoom vs fixed lens For a few hundred more, this is a nice system. https://www.lorextechnology.com/hd-ip-security-camera-system/2k-ultra-hd-ip-nvr-security-camera-system-with-8-ip-cameras/HDIP88BW-1-p
