Vineyards 0 Posted April 27, 2017 We are in the process of designing a surveillance system for a vineyard location where cellular service is nonexistent, but a strong wifi signal is available. would like 3 Cameras, outside weather resistant, we are above freezing all year. Must have their own power, no possibility of supplying 110v, but solar & battery, or just battery is a perfect option, as we can swap out batteries without a problem. A DVR is fine too, as the owner can then tap into the router and see the cameras. We have residents who will also monitor the cameras and can maintain as well. We would like 3 cameras to start with and possible 4th (wired, indoors, with power supply available) Would like a scaleable solution so as to add 2 or 3 more cameras later as an option Have been looking at options like Ring Stick Up Cam, Canary, Nest, Netgear Arlo Pro, Lorex/Flir, etc., but have not found a strong solution yet. Would like to have 1080p, unless the consensus is that 720p will work. 1st vineyard we are going to try this on is about 150 to 200' on each side (a square) and is approx 200' from router. Any suggestions or ideas will be very much appreciated. Thank you
mattaggie 0 Posted April 28, 2017 it would probably be simplier to get cameras that have good zoom function. Then you can mount cameras where router/power is located.
zacharyx 0 Posted April 29, 2017 DO you need an all in one package? Or could you use Solar setup to power a POE switch and go from there??
mattaggie 0 Posted April 29, 2017 all you need is a POE switch, that will provide power and data using 1 cat 5 cable per camera. If you buy a packed system, often times the POE feature will be built into the NVR. Or you can use a PC as an NVR and plug a POE switch into PC.
