love777 0 Posted May 15, 2017 Hi, I hope i am posting in the right thread. I am in the market for new security cameras. My plan is to buy Amcrest wifi 1080p PTZ indoor camera 4 Amcrest Outdoor POE 1080 cameras Amcrest NVR 8 channel or 4 channel not sure which one I need I am not sure if I also need a POE Switch Currently my home has Ethernet ports in particular rooms that are routed to a switch located in a closet, which then is hooked up to my wifi router and modem. My plan is to have all the Ethernet cables for my outdoor POE cameras to run through my attic. would it be best to have all 4 cameras connected to a POE switch - then have that run to the room that my NVR will be connected to? And if this is the case then I only need a 4 channel NVR correct? or maybe not even 4 since the POE switch is the one that needs all the channels to handle the cameras. I also already have 4 really old Q-See cameras set up to a DVR. They are Q-See QSDS636D4 420 TVL. I'm wondering if these too can be connected to my NVR or if they are too old to be compatible. If it is compatible I can hook this up to the POE switch as well? What if they are not POE cameras can I still hook it up to the switch for the internet connection. Oh and NVR - if it's a 4 channel does that mean it will only display 4 cameras on the gui? I want to see the indoor wifi camera too so I would have 5 cameras total - 9 if i am able to also hook up my old ones to it. Thanks!
51cent 8 Posted May 15, 2017 The new Amcrest ptz cameras are rebranded Dahua cameras. You will probably pay less for Dahua cameras. You may want to look at the Dahua Starlight cameras, their night vision is very good for the price.
tomcctv 190 Posted May 16, 2017 Hi. Don't waste your money on the indoor wifi ptz it's not a dahua. Little table top cameras are pointless. For the $90 you could buy 2 cvi cameras. If you already have analog then go for a 8way recorder hybrid which will run any formate camera

love777 0 Posted May 16, 2017 Thank you for all the replies. So Dahua is a better brand? I should by this over Amcrest? Is it just better quality? I read EX-SDI is better than IP cameras? So i can buy a 8 way recorder hybrid which will accomodate my analog, ptz and poe cameras? Is it hard to set up? And are there any suggestions on a good one? i looked at a few and i dont see ports for POE on the back of hybrid does that mean i need a POE switch too? Also what about a tribrid dvr? I was only thinking of tabletop just for one indoor that i could PTZ without spending a fortune. I would get POE cameras for outdoors. I do have one analog indoor already too but it's just one position. Thank you again.
51cent 8 Posted May 17, 2017 Dahua makes some of the cameras for Amcrest, I don't believe Amcrest makes their own cameras. I can't help you with the hybrid questions.
