Small IP-camera setup, problems with smooth stream.

I have set up a local(no internet) IP camera solution, which consists of:

D-Link DCS-2330L IP Camera

D-Link DIR-842 router

Lenovo A10-30 Android Tablet

 

The IP camera and router are wired. Tablet is wireless to router.

 

It is WPA security and simultaneously runs static ip as "extra security".

 

I have no problem getting the image on my tablet, running h264, 1280x720, 15fps, standard quality.

Theoretically, this should be zero problem to streamer. Has good WiFi quality on the tablet. Anyway, the stream stops now and then, so the picture locks up to 1min before it streams again.

 

On the tablet I have tried an app called ONVIF IP Camera Monitor and logged on to the IP camera via Chrome and put the stream right in the Chrome browser on the tablet. The last one I've experienced is the most stable, but the problem is still there.

 

Distance to router should not be a problem, but if there is a router that is better for this, I will accept tips.

 

Anyone who has any tips or tweaks on this setup?

 

EDIT: It usually helps to restart(Take out the power and put it back in) the camera.

are these the only things on the network the router is not connected to the internet or another router? Have you checked all the IP addresses.

These are the only components on the network. It is not connected to internet.

What do you mean by checked all the IP addresses?

make sure all are in the same range for example 10.1.10.1 thru 10.1.10. 254 if one of the devices has a different IP it may not be visible to the other devices.

The are all in the same range, 192.168.188.*. I have no problem finding the devices, its just that the stream stops after a while, and the returns and keep going like that. But if you restart the setup(take out/in the power cord) it will be stable for a time again.

That d link can't be sold in many countries because if it's wireless band.

 

Best if you can put a cable to your cameras if that is not possible then use power line adapters

The camera is connected to the router with a Cat6 cable. The tablet is wireless.

 

I've also tried connect my laptop with cable the router, it still drops then, but not as often.

 

I've turnd off UPNP in the router, might that be a problem?
