jimmyNJ 0 Posted June 29, 2017 We're working on a parking lot and park / recreation are for cctv. We're anticipating attaching cameras to light poles but drawing power from a centrally located power supply, not the light pole. Many of the runs would reach 400ft. Will we have a problem using RG59/2 conductor at that distance? Is running the camera cable inside a light pole with power a problem or is there a solution to that? Would it be worthwhile to add Cat6 to the cable for future IP connectivity? I believe I will be using HD-TVI cameras. We're requesting schedule 40 buried conduit to selected light poles. Is it normal to daisy chain conduits with a pull box/hand hole at certain locations? What about surge / lightning arrestors. I almost never use them on outside cameras but I suppose protecting the DVR / power supply is important. Is metal pole to metal camera a problem in terms of camera operation? In the past a metal camera attached to a steel building required I put a piece of wood in between.
