Lens sizing

Hi guys,

 

After some help with lens sizing, i will be mounting 2 cameras ( Hikvision 8MP ) to each corner of my property with the focus being the white truck in the middle, the height will be 5 meteres and the truck from the camera is 10 meters but i would like to catch everything in between also, im hoping using a higher MP camera i can go for a smaller lens and rely on digital zoom.

You left out how wide you want to capture.

Entering 10m=30ft distance and assuming 4m long truck = 12Ft, that'll give you a 12mm lense.

Most common (and therefor often cheapest) varifocal lense is something like 3-12mm.
