Computer software for people tracking

I know there's smart cameras that have built in tracking software for counting people entering and exiting but I see they're quite expensive.

 

I'm hoping to maybe find an alternative option and I wanted to see if anybody knows if there's any simple software that could be installed on a computer that could do the same thing by using the IP address/login info of the camera and use that to count people entering and exiting.

Check out Sight Hound? It's got an API that can integrate to do much more than people/object tracking.
