how do i access content from cctv hdd?

hello,

i recently updated my cctv system as I was having problems with the one I had inbeing an old system.

 

what I am wanting to do is access any footage left on the old hard drive. the problems I am having are

 

1. the dvr will not show on the tv (multiple tvs tried)

2. I removed the hard drive and plugged it up to my laptop but it is not showing up on my computer.

 

is there any way I could solve either one of these problems to view footage?

First off you will not see or be able to retrieve any data from your DVR's HDD as the DVR manufacturer will prob use there own proprietary OS. So don't waist time trying that.

 

Your best bet is to get it working with a screen/tv. How are you connecting to it? HDMI? VGA or comp vid?

 

HDMI and VGA both have various resolutions so the DVR out put res could be set to high or low for the screens to see.

 

If your DVR has a video out I would use that to see if you can access the required footage.
