Best Solution For Digital Recording And Control...

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Im hoping to have 6 Cameras installed on the outside of a residential property. The cameras will be placed under the eaves of the fron and back roofs with all the wiring(power and rg59) being run in the loft. There is a study on the first floor which wwill have the monitor and DVR. The cablining can be run down from the loft to the study.

The problem is I dont want it to be noisey (from the DVR) but at the same time I wish to have control of the cameras from the study.

What is the best solution for this scenario?

If I kept the DVR in the loft and run one cable down for the monitor what is the best way of controlling the DVR without being able to physically get to it?

All help, advice and ideas are appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Jig:)

What is it that you want to control about the cameras?

Most DVR's now you can control, configure, setup via the network client software.

Which DVR will you be using. Also, will the DVR be on a network.

As you are in the UK, you may need planning permission depending on how you plan on mounting the six cameras, if two or more cameras are located on a single building, any less than 10 metres apart or more than four cameras are fixed on any single side of a building then you will need planning permission, or the council could get nasty.

Its also possible that extremes of temperature in the loft (it will probably get very hot up there...) may shorten the life of any electrical equipment you install up in it, specially delicate stuff like a dvr.

Want to have the ability to change cameras and also playback any footage (by control I dont want to zoom or pan the cameras as this is not possible)

Which DVR's do you recommend that use this client software? How does it allow control and playback?

I want to network the DVR also as I currently have wireless broadband.

Many thanks for the info on the regs, didnt release this was the case. The good news is the there are going to be cameras two from two back but all are 10 metres apart.

Should I just have the cables run into the study?Just means a lot of cable which will not look nice
