Newbie iMac Computer Based System

Hello I am extremely green on how this works.

 

What I envision and think what I want to accomplish.

 

I have a late 2013 iMac 27", 3.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, 32GB (four 8GB) of 1600MHz DDR3 memory, 3TB Fusion Drive, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M with 4GB of GDDR5 memory. I want to use this as the computer with a security camera software installed, have a 24 PoE switch, a DVR/hard drive dedicated to recording the video on the switch, and then run cameras over the network.

 

This is the basic plan that I have, if this is NOT the correct way or advisable way of setting up a home security system then please tell me. I know I must be missing or not including information that is need.
