voloftn 0 Posted July 16, 2006 I may have taken some advice I knew better than to take. The salesman at a sponsored surveillance company told me I didn't need the converter to operate the MeritLilin PIH 7000 dome. Is this true? I searched the forums and couldn't verify this answer. Thanks!
rory 0 Posted July 16, 2006 You can use any convertor once it converts from RS232 to RS485.. then select the Merlit Lim Dome Protocol .. .. I havent used the Merlit Lim myself but i just did it the day before with an OEM PTZ and used the Pelco D protocol .. Geo's convertor just looks pretier .. voloftn 0 Posted July 16, 2006 I'm still confused. Do I need the converter to operate the Lilin PTZ though?
UMDRanger 0 Posted July 16, 2006 Well you'll need someway to send the communication from the computer to the PTZ. This is usually done via a RS232-->RS485 converter. You can buy Geovision's GV-Net, or a cheapie off Ebay. Personally I have the "pretty" GV-Net.
