seppec 0 Posted January 27, 2018 Hello, Today I went to a client to replace a cctv camera that was broken. When I replaced the camera there was no signal on the little car monitor that was placed in the kitchen. There is a good video signal to the DVR tho so the camera is working. The camera is connected to a splitter in the attic and goes from the splitter to the DVR and to the car monitor. Why is there no signal on the car monitor? Are the cables to long? the video signal to weak? Thank you!
libram 0 Posted January 27, 2018 splitter? is the cable coax or utp? what is the spec on the splitter, how is it labeled, what exactly is this car monitor, what dvr, what camera spec cvi, tvi, ahd, sdi, etc ? All of these things matter and without a more detailed description no one could give you any real answer.
seppec 0 Posted January 27, 2018 Hello, The dvr is from dalhua 4ch dvr the camera's are can280 - pal, cmos 1/2" The splitter has no specs it is just a t splitter (see picture) and the system uses coax cable. The lcd is just a small 9" lcd like they use in cars it has no brand.
jeromephone 6 Posted January 27, 2018 We always use a powered splitter they are cheap and give you full signal to both monitors up to a couple of hundred feet.
seppec 0 Posted January 27, 2018 I'll try it with a powered splitter. Thanks! I just took this picture when i was with the client. Is it a sign of a low video signal?
b1gbleu 0 Posted January 28, 2018 That looks like a defective camera image. The rest of the image is perfect, so there's no weakness like static or lines across the image.
seppec 0 Posted January 28, 2018 The camera works fine bc's it works well on my dvr. It is a dark image but i can see what is going on but i can not see anything on the little display in the kitchen
tomcctv 190 Posted January 28, 2018 Hi. T connectors never work to distribute CCTV signal. How is the image on the mini screen if you go direct from camera ? But what you need is a 1 in 2 out distribution box at camera end. They are cheap and the right way to go
jeromephone 6 Posted January 28, 2018 Tom's device will work at the dvr end as well depending on how you have things wired
libram 0 Posted January 29, 2018 good ideas, on the powered splits, I'm also wondering if there is a video format issue with the little monitor. No specs means just try it and see. Put it in place of the dvr and look, is it good or the same? Same means monitor isn't compatible.
