Camera Compatability with NVR

I have had an Annke four camera POE system for a few years and now one of the cameras has stopped working.

 

I'm happy with the system for my limited needs.

 

What I don't understand is which cameras I can buy to replace the one that doesn't work.

 

According to Annke there are only a couple (and they don't seem to be available)

 

Why can't I use any POE camera?

 

I have the H264 NVR and the camera I want to replace is an I121G

 

What do I need to look for?

look in the nvr manual and see if the system supports ONVIF that is a protocol that has been developed to address the issue you are having. Some systems will allow other makes of cameras but charge a license fee. Your best bet is to try and find an exact replacement on the secondary market if that model is no longer made.

Yes ONVIF is supported and I thought that meant it would be compatible.

 

Now it doesn't seem so.

 

It makes no sense though.

 

I have had a look for the cameras Annke suggest but can't find any.
