alexf40 2 Posted March 12, 2018 Hi I'm hoping someone can help me here, I've read all the posts but still confused. I'm trying to setup port forwarding so I can access my cameras remotely, but I'm not sure what IP address I should be using. My cameras all have static IPs, connected to a switch which in turn is connected to the router. Do I use the routers internal IP as the IP address for the forward rule? jeromephone 6 Posted March 12, 2018 lets say your camera is at internal IP address 10.10.10.45 you would log in to your router and port foward that address. In order to view the camera from outside you would enter the routers external IP for instance 56.23.110.12. this is a very basic explaination . look at your router manual on port fowarding or go to google to get a much better discription. This website also has info on port fowarding.
51cent 8 Posted March 13, 2018 To add to jeromephone's reply, you would need to give each camera a different http port. If the port you set was 44000 the external address to access the camera would be http://56.23.110.12:44000 Keep in mind that forwarding ports exposes the cameras to the internet so keep the cameras firmware updated. alexf40 2 Posted March 13, 2018 Thanks, this was where I was going wrong. I didn't realise all the cameras had to be on different ports. Cheers
