muzzo 0 Posted April 28, 2018 I have one of the above cameras and the two onboard IR led's are non-functional - the powersupply the camera was on went over voltage slightly to 16v (was on a test bench "in low light to see led's"and led's were observed to go a slight green tinge - then no operation - colour change like this usually occurs when overvoltage and kills the leds'). The camera still functions fine. I guess I could use an outboard LED panel - but with the camera apart already I'd like to replace the IR LED's. There are plenty avail on aliexpress etc - question is tho - what wattage rating? It is a nice camera with good sharp pics (used on standard def on a analogue dvr) I am guessing 1 - 3 watts.... each ... there are two. Thanks. Update - scotch that .... testing further and it is the onboard cotrol of the LED's that is gone - there is 13.8v dc going to the LED's. The circuitry on the camera board is too delicate to go poking around and I don't have a circuit diagram. The IR/night time switching is still working fine - - so have added an extrenal LED array for the camera. This camera really does have a nice sharp and clear full colour picture - even tho I am using just the SD and not HD output. Excellent night time viewing also. Yes I no longer have any smart IR control on the camera and no control over distance settings. Annoying to say the least. The IR LED's don't function at all so not able to have any smart IR activity. I set the camera up last night covering the back yard with a small standalone 24 IR count outboard illuminator and the picture coming back was surprisingly good with little face white out only when someone was within 5 feet of the camera. To say I am peeved the event happened is putting it lightly and I have taken the suspect power supply out of comission. I don't have an HD DVR by the way. Thanks again for your interest. This is why I ask how are you controlling the camera Hi again - I do appreciate your questions - when I initially got the camera I wanted to make sure it was a worker - came from an auction site online from a seller of used items. My initial tests involved connecting the SD output direct to a monitor. Turning the lights off in the workshop brought the LED's on - this gave good night vision. After a few seconds the night vision was affected and looking at the two LED's on the camera they went a pale greenish colour then went out. I immedialtely removed the camera from power - put a meter on the power supply and saw just over 16v dc. The camera still switches the internal relay from the LDR being in dark and the camera goes into night vision - B/W - just no IR LED operation. I am currently looking at the monitor for the DVR and the night vision with the external LED array is bloody good (23:30 here local time) .I am counting myself lucky the camera is still working. As mentioned - when testing the voltage arriving at the LED's on the board inside the camera there is 13.8v dc - the whole camera supply voltage - which should be 6v as the two LED's are wanting 3v each - and they are in series. As I am/was using only the SD output (the camera has both - one lead for SD and one for HD) I did not really have any control or access to the smart IR function. There is bound to be an smd voltage reg on the camera board that took a hit and passed the full voltage to the LED's - they both test open circuit. (Taking things apart and testing is something I AM good at;-) ) My comment that I no longer have any control on the smart IR (not that I as able to use) is I am guessing that I will not have any control if I was able to try and access this at a later date - as I have damaged the IR circuits - and the smart control will work only on the IR lLED's in the camera. I'll need to do a read-up on smart IR control and options - when the farm work is over - busy week ahead. From what I have read one can control the way the IR illumination works on close up objects - preventing face white-out - with an AGC feedback system the smart control must use. If I have this wrong do say so. I got thick skin;-) If I am missing something - which is possible - my early work in cctv was 30 years ago and now I am dabbling after a long break -technology has come a huge way - I am more than happy to be educated. My main forte is in elctronics repair/diagnostics and I probably do need to take some time educating myself on the ins and outs of later cctv technology. Your replies are appreciated and if I can add anything else do say so. Fortunately this is not for a customer or such - for use on the rural property I live on - so I have time to go over things. Again, just peeved the damn bench supply I had grabbed to use was one I had got in a bulk buy and had not time/load tested it. Live and learn. Over time I will slowly update the simple system I have here - starting with a suitable HD DVR - more blog/info reading to make the "right" selection. I have an old Pacom 16ch which I got with two other DVR's and a PTZ camera for $100 - so basic system at present - on a fixed low income I have sourced two Pelco PTZ cameras for a great price - and will add when they arrive.
