bcs 0 Posted August 6, 2006 Hi Just wondering when dvrs say they have MPEG4/H-264 compression, what do they mean, how do they have a bit of both or is it just bluff
kensplace 0 Posted August 6, 2006 They are both the same, h264 is identically specced to mpeg 4 part 10 standard, according to wikipedia anyways http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264 Just different technical standard names for the same protocol, but its letting you know which version of mpeg 4 its using, as there are probably more than one type I guess. rory 0 Posted August 6, 2006 Depends on the DVR, you can have an option to use either one .. where H.2674 will give you around double the time ... lower quality though due to higher compression .. better for remote video though for lower speed connections and/or lots of cameras. cctvwizard 0 Posted August 10, 2006 Here is a good link that I found that talks about video compression. http://www.aventuratechnologies.com/howthingswork/compression.asp
cothew 0 Posted August 11, 2006 The file size of a compressed image with H.264 is about 30 ~ 50% lower than one with general MPEG4, if those have same image quality.
branko 0 Posted August 12, 2006 H.264 = MPEG 4 AVC You can find the latest news on digital video recorders, cameras and videophones on the website http://www.videophonie.be
rikky 0 Posted September 19, 2006 If image size is dropping 30%, how about the quality of the full sized images. Has anyone experience with H264 systems? Which ones are spectacular in quality?
Walteryubo 0 Posted September 20, 2006 Two compression format are different in compressing rate, image quality are not too much difference.
