Rob2 0 Posted December 10, 2018 Any help with an Admin password reset would be very much appreciated. I was very close after being passed to Vista technical support by a very helpful person in sales but being honest meant that my answer to 'which company are you from' did not pass go I was probably doing OK but running upstairs to get in front of the unit seemed to throw a spanner in the works!! Anyway the guys at Vista were very helpful but it seems it is not something they are permitted to do. I can supply all the details/serial/date time etc and would happily do a paypal to cover the time of a phone call/algorithm use if someone has the required connections. I expect I could pay a visit to my local authorised dealer but it would probably cost me more than the unit did!! Just trying to put some of my own equipment together for fun as I should be doing the SIA license soon.
tomcctv 190 Posted December 10, 2018 Hi. Please don't waste your time. That unit is serial reset only. And no one will do it for you as its over 15 years old and CIF only unit. You will learn nothing from that unit for your SIA licence. The recorder can't even go on the Internet. I used to work for vista in Warrington
Rob2 0 Posted December 10, 2018 Oh.. well according to serial no. label it will be 9 in January and online manuals/spec sheets show recording to D1 and various network/online viewing options. Reset can be done down the phone though as I was started on that process - too many model numbers

Reset can be done down the phone though as I was started on that process - too many model numbers It's not true D1 and don't get yours mixed up with the h264 Serial number is when that unit was made .....not the start of when first brought out. Yours is mpeg4 and has no support at all across any apps No windows support No Apple or android support. So can't be reset over Internet it is serial
Rob2 0 Posted December 10, 2018 Thanks for your help but maybe we are talking about a different machine? D1 according to literature, anyway certainly way more than CIF. MPEG4 but not h.264 yep.. sadly was well aware of that. I think you misunderstood what I meant by 'down the phone' - nothing to do with networks just an eight-digit numeric code generated by tech support from details given about the unit. It has a built-in web server and presumably if I can be bothered to cludge together an XP box or some kind of VM can enjoy the ancient application support. tomcctv 190 Posted December 10, 2018 D1 according to literature, anyway certainly way more than CIF. Well your right there ....its 4cif. 4cif(d1) MPEG4 but not h.264 yep.. sadly was well aware of that. Well you must of already read in spec no longer supported. And it states in all apps MPEG4 not supported. It has a built-in web server and presumably if I can be bothered to cludge together an XP b. Mpeg4 needs software unlike the h264. Just trying to put some of my own equipment together for fun as I should be doing the SIA license soon. Just to help you get your SIA ...... CIF can not be used in the uk anymore proprietary software also can't be used. What is a simple post to save you money (actually £75) for code reset. It would be cheaper for you to buy a 4way 960h dvr for £45. At least you would have a learning tool. But you have a long way to go if you don't know uk regulations at this stage for your licence. And listening to a SIA holder I thought would of been of help to you.
Rob2 0 Posted December 10, 2018 What is a simple post to save you money (actually £75) for code reset. Is that with or without the 'serial' cable ? Honestly not trying to cause problems but you seem to be overly negative and after making 4 complete errors in your first reply are just backtrack googling and generally trying to obfuscate.
