ft_cctv 0 Posted September 18, 2006 How can I tell if it can take 16 video input. the card on the back has a black port for another 8 octopus cable. Currently I have a single 8 video and 4 audio blue octopus cable. Thanks in advance.
vf702 0 Posted September 18, 2006 There is an indicator on the box it comes with. You can also check the card. If you look at the picture of the capture card, there is a pink "16 port" sticker on the lower right corner of the top card and one almost directly below it on the PCI-E card. This one is a 16 port card. The 8 port cards have a sticker with "8 port". The 8 port cards look similar, in that they also have the blue and black port in front, however adding another dongle will not make an 8 port card turn into a 16 port card. It is probably cheaper to mass manufacture all of their cards the same with a few chips added or removed to make the different models.
ft_cctv 0 Posted September 19, 2006 That was very clearly explained. Thanks. So now that I only have a 8 video card. What would I need in hardware to get the additional 8 more inputs?
vf702 0 Posted September 20, 2006 Replacing that card with a 16 channel card is probably the only solution that doesn't involve risking ruining the card altogether.
ft_cctv 0 Posted September 22, 2006 Thanks for the advise. I have found a buyer for my card and have a new one with 16 inputs on its way.
