IR transparent material to mute visible red leds?

I just got a little security system after someone broke into my truck and I'm happy with everything about it except that the IR leds are visible. I know there are IR transparent materials out there: they appear opaque to us, but still allow most of the IR beam through. I'm aware that you can get higher frequency leds that are naturally invisible, but I'm not trying to get into replacing leds or buying a new system. Have any of you found a good solution for this? Is there a type of paint or plastic ring or something that would do the trick?
