W4ZOO 0 Posted September 21, 2006 1st post, Hello, ben lurking and reading, I see many good answers by installers & pro's alike. I have to break one of the cable no no's, I have to make my run from the house to our barn in PVC conduit that is going to be with 2 120v lines and a ground. I need to get 3 cameras back to the Panasonic Multiplexer that I am installing in the house (16 cam Ebay special). Shoe string budget sorry to say. I will be putting some ral cheep Color/IR cams that I have three of now. Thay are the wirelss type but have a cable option that I wqnt to use. the cams are 2.4 and not dependable also I reserve the 2.4 for networking. 125' to 160' is my run. What are my coax options and what loss of quality can I expect? Is ther a twisted pair option? I know the correct way is to seperate the runs but no time, I'm still rebuilding from "Wilma" Thanks in advance
rapid 0 Posted September 22, 2006 W4Zoo, You've been reading! Guess you don't have many choices right now. Skip the coax, and go for unshielded twisted pair if you're going to run them in the same pvc conduit as your 120ac. Pull at least 4 pair while you're at it. There are various suppliers like Nitek and NVT who will have a product to meet your need and budget. Good Luck!
securitymonster 0 Posted September 22, 2006 I would also try and power those cameras up locally if you can. Those cameras are very tempermental and will give you many issues. If you can cut one issue out being power, then less headache down the road. You will probably be replacing those cameras within 6 months!
