Bazzospain 0 Posted July 29, 2021 So I've just upgraded my old Ermet dvr to a Hikvision one, it has 16 bnc connections, all being used, and is capable of 8 IP cams.. I already have 5 Hikvision ip cams in storage, which I undersrand will need a single network cable to each one. (I run 2 bnc cams and power over a single network cable normally) My question is.. what's the best way to power these cameras, do i need to run a separate power cable to each cam?.. not very convenient as they are spread out over 100m or so. And what's best power supply to use? Thanks in advance.
tomcctv 190 Posted July 29, 2021 Hi. You will need to also install a Poe switch this will also power your cameras …. So it’s a cat5 from switch to each camera we use these and never failed https://www.amazon.com/BV-Tech-Switch-Ethernet-Uplink-Function/dp/B075G2PM17/ref=mp_s_a_1_17?dchild=1&keywords=poe+switch&qid=1627600190&sr=8-
