jmk 0 Posted August 13, 2021 I'm not sure this is the right place to ask this. I have a PTZ dome camera that I would like to replace the 850 nm lights with 950 nm lights. Is that possible?
tomcctv 190 Posted August 13, 2021 Hi. This will reduce your IR range on your ptz and you would also need to change your filter the cost is a lot more than buying a new ptz ptz usually now come with smart IR if this is the case with your then no it’s not possible
jmk 0 Posted August 13, 2021 Thanks for the reply. I know the 950's reduce the range and that's not a problem. However, I don't know what or where the filter is and I'm clueless about the smart IR. Can you enlighten me? Thanks again
tomcctv 190 Posted August 13, 2021 Hi. Smart IR is when the ptz zooms the IR gets brighter and dimmer when zoom in this stop white out a filter is what allows your camera to see when IR is on …… it’s either a motorised filter lens or on cheap cameras it on the lens filter for 850 will not always see 950 ir what is it your trying to do
jmk 0 Posted August 13, 2021 Hi, I have a PTZ camera (Eversecu) at our gate about 500 feet from the house and it works great. However it is very visible at night because of the 850 IR's and I would like one with 950 IR's so that it's not so obvious to people. My gate and property is at the end of a dead end road out in the country. I just don't want it so obvious. I've contacted Eversecu (thru Amazon) and haven't heard anything yet. I'm just researching my options. Thanks again for your reply.
tomcctv 190 Posted August 13, 2021 Hi with Eversecu you can’t change filter or IR switch ptz to day mode only and insert some PIR lighting around your gate area
jmk 0 Posted August 14, 2021 Thanks for all your help, I will look into the day mode only. Thanks
