rmo 0 Posted September 25, 2006 Hi, Does anyone have any opinions on touch screen CCTV control keyboards? Which ones are the most user friendly and have the best layout etc. Are they any easier or harder to use than conventional "button" keyboards? I can see the benefit of having fully customisable layouts etc, but is the useability compromised? Are the features such as maps, configurable UI's and colour displays actually any use to the end user? Any opinions or views appreciated! Thanks.
rapid 0 Posted September 26, 2006 Interestingly enough, was looking at the Sanyo VSP9000 touch screen controller for our Sanyo 3716 DVR. I was told they are about $1800 Cdn....not sure if I want to spend that amount of dough. The mapping feature is interesting, but really is more of a toy in my opinion.....I can't see our operators really using them due to the small size. We've slowly started to migrate from traditional keypads to touch screens like Crestron where you can customize your layout and create custom labels. Instead of MON 1....CAM 15....you can create "ABC Printing...Lobby" The downside is you'll need software training from Crestron and others.
CollinR 0 Posted October 6, 2006 Crestron and AMX kinda suck! You are limited wi Before you train on Crestron too much check out some of the open source protocols like xAP and xPL. Nobody markets them because they are OS but they are hardware and OS independent which is highly cool.
