Moringa 0 Posted February 23, 2022 For years I have used a Sannce DVR, and some HView 2MP cameras, that were popular 4 or 5 years ago. I recently bought a HikVision DS-7208HGHI unit, expecting to easily upgrade the system. What I discovered is that the HikVision displays the camera feed in grayscale only. This is not a lack of light issue, as in infrared. Plenty of light, and no color. I already tried the obvious, contacting a HikVision installer, and HikVision technical support. The support says they don't think a firmware upgrade will help. The installer says that he thinks the HikVision unit does not recognize that they are analog cameras. Just for grins, I went way back in time to some 960H cameras I used in the very beginning of my security system saga. These old timers connected to the HikVision, do display color, but the pathetic resolution makes them impractical. I cannot find any setting in the HikVision that applies, and it looks like it thinks they are analog. I took a camera apart, and there are no obvious dip switches or jumpers. I do believe that these cameras are programmable to a degree, because the PAL and NTSC guts are identical. These cameras are much less common now, but I did find an ad that shows them: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ https://nightsowlsecurity.com/products/nos-8-ch-cctv-system-with-2-array-leds? currency=USD&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The HikVision manual lists the following camera types as supported: 720p/25Hz, 720p/30Hz, 720p/50Hz, 720p/60Hz, 1080p/25Hz, 1080p/30Hz, CVBS. There is next to no information on the HViews that I can find. I did try both 720p and 1080p modes. Any idea is welcome. Thanks!

Moringa 0 Posted February 23, 2022 Thanks for that. That would make sense. Maybe the HViews were primarily sold by the Sannce/Annke distributors, because they work well with their DVRs. The Sannce DVR, currently working says the HViews are working in AHD mode. I bought the HikVision used, and got a good deal. I could put the HView back on the HikVision, and let you know what mode it says. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I couldn't find any place where it specifically says what mode the camera is in. I did find in the "record" area for all 8 cameras, where it says that the one camera in operation is recording in the 960x480 mode. The other 7, not connected, say 720p. This is not an IP camera, so I don't think you can install it, even though the HikVision unit wants it installed. Is there some trick you can use to install a non-IP camera, then change the mode? If so, this could fix the issue.
