coyote2 0 Posted May 28, 2022 I'm seeking a 4K (HDR optional) security camera. I want an HDMI-output because I plan to connect to a UHDTV. Small form factor preferred. Recommendations please? I heard that HIKVISION makes them but I hear that for some reason it's not easy to get one now in the USA. The only one I can find is this one https://www.hikvision.com/en/products/IP-Products/Network-Cameras/Pro-Series-EasyIP-/DS-2CD2185G0-IMS/ https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1580973-REG/hikvision_ds_2cd2185g0_ims_2_8mm_ds_2cd2185g0_ims_8mp_outdoor_network.html and I think it might work for me because while I don't think I want it's night vision functionality, on page 80 of the manual it looks like I can turn off the lights. However, I think you might not be correct, because this video "Connect Your Security Camera to an External Monitor with These HDMI Output Security Cameras!" shows a security camera attached via HDMI to a TV. The company who made the video replied to me via email that it's an HIKVISION camera. And my link to an HIKVISION camera is the only one I can find, and it has an HDMI output. Tv does not have a operating system on it to control hdmi camera ……. It is just a spy monitor you still need network connection for camera to work sorry I’m wrong

I saw in the manual that that camera has settings, and I failed to wonder how to access them. In practice, I only want to access setting once, then just send the HDMI signal to my TV (and also split it to my PC). I don't plan to aim the camera in realtime. So now I'm eager to ask you how the PC can control the camera. (It'll be awhile before I can look at the manual or maybe even read your reply, because I just got back from an ambulance trip to the ER with vertigo/nausea/head spinning.) Specifically: Can the PC control the camera over HDMI, or will I also/instead need to connect to the PC via Ethernet? (I'm wild-guessing the latter, since I see the manual talking about a web browser interface.) Many thanks in advance! Thank goodness you replied and helped this noob! I'm so excited to sense the light at the end of this longtime project!
