Angus19 0 Posted September 3, 2022 I have 2 on separate cat 5 cables and want to add another one to each cable if possible- nvr has available ports i tried a splitter adaptor off eBay to no avail many thanks
tomcctv 190 Posted September 3, 2022 Hi problem with using a splitter is no power you have two options …. Use a 4 way switch with Poe …. But you will need to call cameras back to nvr from your router but quickest way is buying two tp-link Ethernet over power adapters 1 at camera end and one nvr end …… no cable needed I use these all the time with no problems it is also the cheapest way https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/powerline/tl-pa717-kit/
Angus19 0 Posted September 4, 2022 Many thanks for your reply i clicked on the link - that seems to be for extending your WiFi via the electrics or I am not understanding how that then allows me to operate 2 cameras via the one cat 5 cable? apologies- a bit of a thick mick at this end! Would appreciate further feed back cheers
d-smes 0 Posted May 31, 2023 IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at only use two of the four pairs. As long as your camera uses one of these PoE/PoE+ standards, you should be able to use one of these splitters. One splitter has a female RJ-45 which connects to your second camera through a patch cable. The figure on Amazon has it backwards- while it would work, who has two cameras really close to each other.
