GV 250 quad display no live video help

I provide computer and network services. I've been asked to get an existing GV250 system working.

I also understand a fair bit about video and am so-so on current PC software for video.

The system is using a GV-250-4 that's been installed in a "new" computer - one different from the original.

 

There are two issues for me:

 

1) I inherited a CD with 7.0 on it. It seems to install OK and the software seems to work.

In some setting screens I can see live video from each of the 4 cameras. This seems to prove that capture is working fine.

However, in a quad view I only get static frames. Any suggestions for this? I will investigate the actual video card in use but don't have other ideas.

Might there simply be a "switch" that needs to be set? I can't find such a control.

 

2) I downloaded 8.01 and 8.02 from the GV website but the files don't seem to have the install menu that the 7.0 disk has. So, I'm very unsure which software to load/use, etc. I'm happy to stay with the 7.0 if I can make it work.

Hi ... first give us a run down on the PC specs .. including memory, CPU, Motherboard type and chipset, and Video card make and model ..

 

Also which PCI slot the card is installed in.

Any other hardware such as PCI cards etc ..

anything else running on the PC. etc

 

For 8.0 you'd first want to get 7.0 working ... once it is working then id suggest downloading the tool which lets you check that the card is compatible .. then once it is .. you can use 8.0 's main system download .. Version 8.01 would be the full version, 8.02 is just an update to 8.01.

I downloaded 8.01 and put it on a CD. Then I attempted to install it on site. Not a good thing...

 

Now, 7.0 had been removed at the time.

 

7.0 is currently installed and behaving the same as the day I walked in.

 

Are you suggesting some sort of 8.0 install on top of 7.0 or .... ?

On the download list for 8.01 is the Geo Main System ...

 

Also, yes best to uninstall first then install 8.01 .. but also best to download and run their 8.0 Validation program first.

By "Validation" do you mean the Detectsys.exe?

 

I still don't quite know what I should expect to see when I install 8.01.

I don't recall having seen an installation menu as comes up with the 7.0 CD. So, that makes me a little nervous about the starting point.

 

Will it be similar or not? I have the feeling I may not be exactly on the right path here.

the 7.0 menu is just a seperate EXE that shows a list of all the other programs on the CD .. one of the programs is the Geo Main System .. thats the only one you need download for the DVR .. to update it .. but also they have a program that validates your system first to make sure 8.0 will work with it ..

 

So basically you want to download the First 2 programs from the 8.01 list

 

 

V8.01 Detection Tool - Run this first on the DVR ..

GV System - this is the main system .. this updates to 8.0 (1)

 

Uninstall 7.0 first ... some settings will stay the same.

Also, I can rather figure out what some of these downloads provide but the complete list is rather daunting on first look. For example,

Center V2 ???

Authentication Server ????

don't mean much to me at this point.....

Is there a list of descriptions somewhere or does one have to just "know"?

Center is the Central Station Remote Video software ..

you can download this on a remote PC to do offsite recording ..

 

The rest dont worry about unless you need them ..

same thing though, they are mostly for remote or other PCs ..
