G22 0 Posted October 14, 2006 Just seen these in a Cabela's catalog. Up to 5.0MP, stored on Flash cards, built-in flash on some, IR, etc. Anyone use them in a CCTV setup? They look kinda neat. I guess if you don't mind going out there every so often and replacing the flash card, batteries, etc.
kensplace 0 Posted October 14, 2006 Got a link to more details, not sure what they are... Sound like a digital camera though, how do they differ from a standard digital camera?
G22 0 Posted October 14, 2006 Link HERE to search query for 'scouting' at Cabela's.
securitymonster 0 Posted October 14, 2006 The problem is the recorder is with the camera. If somebody see's the flash or knows the camera is there, they will recognize it as a "scouting" camera and will steal it! This is already a problem in the wilderness....people are stealing them off tree's!
hometownsecurity 0 Posted October 14, 2006 They are a digital camera in an ruggedized housing. Most come with a cable to lock it to the tree. They work really well for patterning deer, but I wouldn't use them in replace of a CCTV setup. You are only going to get snapshots of whatever walks in front of the camera and once the media gets filled up, you start over-writing your pictures. Also, once somebody has seen the flash, they know what it is.
CSG 0 Posted October 14, 2006 Those are basically still camera's,, and cctv by defintion is closed circuit television,, which a still camera is not.
