larryf 0 Posted October 15, 2006 Hello, I could use some technical advice if possible. We have an application where our video system needs to be completely portable and easily moved to different locations. The dvr and cameras are fairly easy (although I still need to find some nice protective cases for them) - what I need is a way to EASILY store and deploy the 150ft + . of cable for each cam...then easily 'respool' it back up when moving to the next location. We are currently using 150ft. combined power/video cables. I have tried a standard extension cable holder from Home Depot, and that worked...but was was ugly and inefficient. Any ideas? Thanks! rapid 0 Posted October 15, 2006 http://www.lentequip.com If you're handy, you can create one of these by purchasing an extension cord caddy and removing the cable. The center portion is a flip open cover which exposes the other end of the connector when you fully extend the cable (leave a small loop of cable inside tied off to the reel), or you can panel mount a female BNC and power terminal block on the cover. FYI....you might not get 150 feet of siamese cable in one of these caddys as they typically hold 25meters (80 feet) of extension cord.
