Arockerdude 0 Posted October 26, 2006 Will this samsung LCD TV work for viewing my cameras? It's HD ready. And has every type of input. I sure hope so because I have already bought it. And I think it's been to long to take it back. Can you guys check the specs. And tell me how good it will work for viewing and playback. Thanks again for the help. Dave There is a link that says specifications on this page. http://www.samsung.com/Products/Monitor/LCD_Digital/LS19DOWSSXAA.asp
CollinR 0 Posted October 26, 2006 It will work. VGA, DVI, Composite and S Video connections are there. Which DVR do you have?
Arockerdude 0 Posted October 27, 2006 It is a Swann DVR 4 Net Plus. I hope to get a GioVision card soon. I wish the play back was a little better. I am upgrading to a Pelco ccc-1390 camera from Q-See cameras. Next will come the GeoVision card. Thanks Dave http://www.swann.com.au/show_item.php?item=
securitymonster 0 Posted October 27, 2006 An LCD will not give you as good of a picture as a standard box style CRT monitor. The consumer grade LCD usually isn't sufficient as far as quality goes for most people. If you want LCD, spend the money and get the hi-res security specific LCD monitors. Your best bet is to buy local from a store with a killer return policy.
rory 0 Posted October 27, 2006 Due to the Composite Video output, the quality wont be great. If it was a PC DVR it would be good. In the case of that DVR, anything but a Composite CRT wont be that good. Honestly the Security LCDs are not that great, especially when dealing with Composite Video - same as using a Composite to VGA convertor - bad image. With a PC DVR a PC LCD monitor is your best choice, but they vary so you have to pick the right one.

WDRJack 0 Posted October 28, 2006 Ok, I'm confused. I'm currently running 4 Pano 474 box cameras into an American Dynamics ADQUAD87 which is hooked up to a cheap 20inch Tube TV (displaying in quad format) in the customer area. The output from the quad is then routed into a dedicated PC running a Geovision Gv800 card. The display from the TV is understandably better than the computer (17" monitor). How much of an improvement will i get if I went (replacing TV) with a consumer grade lcd Tv, security monitor or even a hi-res CCTV LCD running in the quad mode ? I know the security monitor and CCTV LCD has higher lines of resolution but is it that much better ? Oh, by the way I'm new to the forum so please be gentle Jack
rory 0 Posted October 28, 2006 Hi and welcome .. If you use a CCTV Monitor, providing it is not a low res model (as there are some cheap OEM ones out there also), then it would be much better quality than the TV. In Fact, a 13" TV will be better quality than that 20" TV, as its not enlarging the image as much (same resolution size, different screen size) - but the CCTV Monitor would be best. An LCD, consumer or security, will be worst quality than the TV, as you are coming from a quad which uses composite video.
WDRJack 0 Posted October 28, 2006 Thanks Rory, as I was going to purchase a security LCD (although much lighter and easier to install on wall). Since I'm using the American Dynamics ADQUAD87 (supposedly "Unmatched clarity with 1024 x 512 high resolution digital pixel images to display monitor and VCR ") in quad mode, will a hi-res monitor be much of a difference than a standard one (assuming staying with the same make)? Is "1024 x 512" the same as running the cameras straight to the monitor? Does all the quads on the market clip a little bit of video on all sides (compared to output on monitor on GV800)? Sorry for all the questions (I have tons more!) as I am a beginner
