videobruce 0 Posted July 29, 2023 Both Speco Technologies and Hanwha Techwin/Wisenet are using .exe as a choice to save recordings. .exe is an MS executable, not a media format. Why on earth are they doing this? The other choice is the 31 year old, grossly outdated Windows 3.1 .avi format which I understand was a good recording format quality wise at the time.. Now it's not and the files are reported to be HUGE! Why aren't they using .mp4 or even .mkv which is open source?
tomcctv 190 Posted July 29, 2023 Hi AVI is used widely still in the industry and both speci and Samsung still use it in both its still standard when backing up files MAS far as going open source software then footage in courts can’t be used … police also won’t load footage on the computer networks by using a open source
videobruce 0 Posted July 30, 2023 Software? .mp4 and .mkv are codec containers for recording formats. Anyway, what does that have to do with the recordings being used or not used in court?
