Gv1120 TV output on Cat5 with Baluns. Anyone done this?

Recommended Posts

I am installing a GV-1120 and would like to send the TV output about 700 via Cat5 cable to a monitor. I am planning on using standard CCTV Baluns on the Cat5 to send the signal (these are the only lines available and the conduit is too full to pull another wire. Has anyone ever sent the signal out this way and if so what kinds of distances have they gone?

I have a GV-1120(12) TV out run about 2500 feet using an NVT 214A-M at the DVR side and a NVT 652R at the monitor site. It works pretty well

If you have a problem install an amp at the DVR end, those DSP outputs are normally not powerhouses. It will probably work no problem though.

Only possible problem that may occur may be a ground loop, as the monitor is 700m away from the head, it will be on a different power source. The monitor will be earthed, as is the pc....

A active receiver balun should eliminate the ground loop, or a humbug if needed. This is not a problem that I have seen first hand, but it's a possibility to be aware of.
