Problems trying to acess my dvr from outside the network

i have done everything to my knowledge setup host name my port forwarding when i type the host name from inside the computer network it will acess it but when i try from outside on another computer it wont acess it.

 

I am using a netgear WGT624 V3 router but when i go to look at the attached devices i can see the dvr but it doesnt come up with the ip address or the name it only comes up with the mac address

 

My dvr is a AVT AVC780W my ip has been set on it i left the port on 80 gateway is right left the dns as is.

My strengths are in info tech not in cameras and survelance. Have made any connection at all to your remote network? Are you able to ping the external IP address of the remote network? What is the live IP address of the live network? If the live IP address begins with 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x you are behind a NAT and will have to setup some additional resources in place in order to get connected to your servers. I know that some ISP in TN (charter) do this to keep residents from hosting web/ftp sites and sucking up bandwidth.

What kind of internet do you have? Sounds like it might be DSL, if thats the case, what model modem do you have?

 

If it is DSL, it probably has the Modem with the built in router and if its not a new model, it will be difficult to do. The easiest way is to bridge the modem but your ISP needs to be setup that way and that can take 2 hours to 5 days.
