Help with Protocol Changes on my PTZ.

Recommended Posts

I got a KPT-SD301FH and did not get any instructions for how to change the protocols on the ptz unit.

It defaults to Pelco-D and the Digital Sprite 2 doesn't use the D protocol. It uses Pelco-P and several others/

The unit came with instructions for the actual camera, but not the PTZ parts.

Any help would be great.

BTW- I did go to the kt&c website and there is nothing there to help.

Thanks

Have you sent KT&C an email?

I called them this morning. Pelco - D is one of the most widely used protocols. Dedicated Micros has no reason as to why they are not using, just that they don't.

The ONLY three solutions are:

Get a New DVR (not going to happen)

Get a new PTZ (might happen, don't know yet)

Or get this: http://www.sennetech.net/Converters.htm

This device costs $250. So combinied with my ptz is still less then the next PTZ with Mechanical Day/Night AND WDR.

Does the PTZ have anyway you can go to it and plug in a monitor and program and set it there ... at least for now .. like some buttons on it ..

It has some buttons on the actual camera if I take off the dome cover.

I don't know how much programming I can do, but it has half a dozen buttons on it.

But that seems like a band aid for and still only the same solutions as I stated above.

yeah .. just means you can move it into a fixed position for now .. so we can see the pool

Basically a PTZ camera has a Zoom camera ... so it should have buttons on it for setup of the camera .. then there should be something to move the PT there also ..

Sounds like you need a Pelco D > Pelco P Convertor .. sounds like you found one ..

I will do that tommorow morning.

Do you know of another company that may have a converter like that for less money?
