RRCC 0 Posted November 21, 2006 Hi, I’m new at this DVR technology, I did a little Research before buying one and Realized that it was going to be a hard decision I started off with a DVR in mind and thought maybe a hybrid DVR might be a better pick. But now I am seriously thinking that for the long term investment, flexibility, and options I might be better off getting an NVR since I would most importantly like a system that will be upgradeable in the future and that won’t become obsolete so soon. Now correct me if I am wrong, but I think you can use analog and IP cameras on the NVR and it has the same features as a DVR. I do know that IP cameras might be twice as expensive. My problem is which NVR would be the best I am looking for the best Play Back Recording Quality and Remote viewing. I want to start off with 8 cameras some analog and some IP cameras. I want to have 2 IP cameras in location A, B and 4 Analog cameras in location C where I plan to have the NVR stationed being able to access the net to view the IP cameras in location A, B from locations C with a PC and a PDA from all three locations. I currently have DSL in all three locations, but I believe I would need a static IP address. I would like to be able to record at least 4-5 days of continuous recording I don’t want a DVR Card system I would prefer a NVR stand alone Unit from a well known brand name that carries good tech support if possible since I’m a novice at this. I have come across three systems so far: Toshiba NVR series 16 Ch. 500GB Panasonic WJ-ND300 Bosch VIDOS-NVR Network Video Recording System Can someone elaborate on the Bosch VIDOS-NVR I believe it’s a server and you install software onto your own computer to communicate with the IP cameras and server not to sure? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or someone to point me in the right direction in reference to an NVR. Thank you in advance. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
wfernley 0 Posted December 4, 2006 IP cameras allow you to install them to an NVR software package without any extra hardware pieces. If you need to install some analog cameras into the PC, you will need a hardware card that has the BNC's on it. JustinCCTV 0 Posted December 5, 2006 RRCC, Vidos is an excellent choice but i think the Bosch Dibos would be more what your looking for! it is an excellent system and comes in many sizes regarding analog and ip inputs.
