kao 0 Posted December 5, 2006 Hey guys, Just installed this outdoor camera. It's a KT&C Day/Night 480 res. Sometimes the camera comes in clear...other times it comes in like the video here: http://users.northlc.com/gilroy/Event20061204193237012.avi May have to right click and choose save as. The file is about 3.75mb The camera tests fine when we bring it in and hook it up local. Im thinking maybe in the cable or connectors. Cable run is between 100 and 150'. Thanks for any insight. what2be 0 Posted December 31, 2006 Did you ever figure this out? im curious if it was a signal problem due to the cable length or a connector problem, or just a bad camera.
CollinR 0 Posted January 2, 2007 Do you have an AI lense? Is it configured correctly? DC vs. VD
kao 0 Posted January 4, 2007 I think it may be that the mechanical day/night filter may not have been functioning properly due to the temperature. When we installed it, it was negative 6 degrees F. I'll be going back to look at the camera soon and I'll check the recordings to see if it started working properly when it warmed up.
microsyskl 0 Posted January 6, 2007 You might want to check out your power supply source. I had an almoast identical problem and discovered the power supply was not putting out enough power to source the camera. Replaced the power supply and all is well! jsiragusa 0 Posted January 8, 2007 We just installed a Geovision 1480 system and 3 of the cameras were KT&C day/night bullets. Model KPC-N600H2W, 520 TVL. By day all these cameras are perfect with beautiful pictures - even better than the Bosch cameras at the same installation, BUT, when the lights are off, one of the cameras gives me a picture similar to this, but even worse. The infrareds keep cycling on and off all night, causing huge amounts of hard drive space to be wasted. I have not been able to get back to the installation yet, probably will tomorrow, but I have a theory. Our particular camera housings screw on and off to give you access to focus, etc. If the body is not screwed on fully giving a good seal between the glass and the infrareds, you will get a refelection, noise, and poor nightime results. This is possibly a simple fix, other than this, are you sure that you haven't accidentally damaged any of the wires in the housing.
jsiragusa 0 Posted January 13, 2007 I got lucky with this one. It turns out that the camera housing wasn't screwed on completely-thus allowing the IR reflection to hinder camera performance and cause all sorts of problems at night. IR on - IR off, IR on IR off, wasted huge amounts of disk space because each time the image changed, it was being viewed as motion by the DVR. I'm just glad that's all it was. But it is a Vandal Dome model hanging off the Aluminum wall mount. Since it is a dome, I doubt any cables are damaged. Plus it worked fine indoors in the light. KT&C said to check the small cover they put on the IR sensor. I'll be going back to the sight in the next couple of weeks. Will post more then.
kao 0 Posted March 6, 2007 Update on this. We ended up replacing the camera with a non day/night model since there is adaquate night lighting. We have the camera in the shop, but I havent had a chance to test it. One of the video cables was pinched by one of the mounting screws. I dont think this was the problem tho cuz the camera was working fine in the daylight. I think it was either a bad day/night sensor or an iris problem. I'll post back once I get a chance to test the camera. But in short it seems the camera was the problem (in night mode).
