Robert Oaks 0 Posted July 6, 2004 I know that I have read post here that give info on the very best motherboard, memory, processor, and AGP card, to use when building a new computer for the GEO card. However, I can't find the post that I need. If someone can suggest exactly what the best components are, I would certainly appreciate the info. While at it, what would you sugget for the best hard drive and power supply for the GEO setup. I would like to start with the best, and hope for the best results, for a long-term, trouble-free, system. Many thank for your help. Robert
cctv_down_under 0 Posted July 6, 2004 Main Board : ASUSP4C800Deluxe Ram: Corsair Twin X PC3300 or Kingston HDD: Seagate or Maxtor SATA CDRW: Sony Monitor: 172X (fast refresh LCD) Case: Antec with large fans at front and back Powersupply: Antec Truwave (not the cheap version) Video Card: Radeon 9800XT PRO CPU: P4 Floppy: Sony Extras... Fan regulator resistor for lowering speeds and noise in winter. Expander Brackets for additional HDD's Zalman, Variable fan speed controller (controls varying speeds for many fans) Glue on Heatsinks for DSP cards Zalman P4 cooler with radial heatsink Interactive UPS Rubber Shock Mounts for HDD mounts Removable Drive bay coolers (DO NOT BUY CHEAP ONES). DVI converter That should get you out of trouble, this is what I use, but not always in the Antec Case sometimes I use a rackmount as it is optionable and depending on model I may up the ram to a faster spped and shoot for 1GB. rory 0 Posted July 6, 2004 ive got a simple question, not upto date with the new hardware that much, I imagine the 3200 400Mhz DDR is faster than the 2100 266Mhz, but they are the same price, does it make a difference. My Moboard has 2 slots that take up to 2GB DDR, I can either buy 2x1024 MB 2100 266Mhz, or I can buy 2x512 MB DDR 3200 400Mhz. Which would be the best way to go? CPU bus is 400Mhz Celeron. Moboard is Soyo. Thanks PS (not my PC someone I know just was asking)
Thomas 0 Posted July 6, 2004 Go for more ram, you won't see any differance with that celeron.
cctv_down_under 0 Posted July 8, 2004 I agree with Thomas... you lack the cache with the Celeron
