I have a client who is running 99% Mac / Linux / Unix in his environment. He wants to be able to view the cameras from any of his systems. I've shown him a few, but they all seem to be pretty basic (view only.) Any systems out there able to view / search / PTZ controls / etc. from a browser other than IE? He doesn't care what OS the actual DVR is running.

if you are cool with Linux OS environment, give a try to zoneminder (http://www.zoneminder.com), it runs on Linux, although I never tried before

I cant speak for the DVR's themselves though as never used them.

Just tested the Demo out a couple weeks back and plays back etc, its all in Java.

Video Insight. This is what turned me on in the first place was a client looking for remote access via MAC.

 

The DVR server itself runs on Windows XP Pro.

thats javascript though, much more limited than Java. Basically is Image Refresh/Push - keeps refreshing the still images.

 

Also, i dont know that it lets you Search and play back in Javascript?

The search on it is limited. You generally have to know what time something happened in.
