Noddy 0 Posted December 24, 2006 I wonder if anyone could please help with a problem that I’m having with a GV-800 4. I running the card in a PC that just meets minimum specs, 2.0G Pentium 4 with 768 Ram, ATI Rage Fury pro 128 ,Server 2003, the system has been running fine (a bit slow to respond but works ok) with one camera. Today I connected a second camera to the card and it has killed the PC, it just freezers and is SO slow to respond, if I disconnect the second camera its fine again. Is there any way to run 2 cameras on the system until I build a new one? Thank you in advance for your help.
odiggity 0 Posted December 26, 2006 2k3 doesn't do graphics well. do you have the latest drives for video card? What version of directx? what do you have the settings for direct draw overlay set to? if its enabled, turn it of and restart. try to lower the recording quality and frame rate on all cams check to see if it behaves the same when 2 cameras are plugged into any channels. what is the main page set to display? quad? try switching it to scan or single. kensplace 0 Posted December 26, 2006 im sitting using my girlfriends portable, a old compaq evo running windows 2000, and it works fine with geo control center remote desktop and remote dvr watching around 10 cams on average. No problems at all.... Graphics are fine on it.

rory 0 Posted December 27, 2006 Whats the motherboard chipset? Also, maybe best to reformat and load XP (w/ SP2) At the same time make sure it is partitioned into at least 2 partitions. Video and Video Log goes on the 2nd partition. Make the system drive 10 or 20GB depending on the size of your hDD. Rory
Noddy 0 Posted December 31, 2006 Sorry for the delay, I do have the latest version of DirectX installed and the video card drivers are up to date (but it is an old card) .The chip set in the PC is Intel Tehama 850, but I have just checked again and the processor is only 1.7G I have managed to get the software to run without freezing by lowering the panel resolution to 800x600. Again I would be grateful of any help
rory 0 Posted January 1, 2007 http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=793 If going by the specs in the link above, its a pretty old motherboard, etc .. AGP4X instead of AGP8X also .. cant say if that would make a huge issue though, especially only with 2 cameras. First thing I would do would be to load XP on there, even just SP1. Though still seems wierd since it works fine with 1 camera. Try the second camera by itself, in place of the original camera, and see what happens. Also, are they both the same cameras, voltage, etc? Noddy 0 Posted January 1, 2007 Thank you Rory for your time, yes it is an old PC that I’m running the software on, it’s my server that I use at home so it’s hard to load XP on that box. They are different cameras but the same voltage, and no matter which way I swap the cameras and inputs around having two in at the higher resolution just freezes the PC. At 800x600 it works just fine with both cameras (be it very slow) maybe I should just spring for a newer box and hopefully my problems will be gone. Thank you again
