Buzzing Sound from DVR

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm installing a security system for my house. I'm using the Everfocus EDSR600 as the DVR. The cameras I am using consist of 2.8-12mm auto iris varifocal lens attached to a Sony Super HAD 540TVL Box Style with .002 LUX. I used a combo zip cable to power the cameras from a 24V transformer and to run the BNC connector/cable to the DRV. I have made the ends for the BNC connectors . . . maybe the problem? Don't know. What I do know is that I am able to have a picture of my security area through the cameras showing on the main monitor. However, immediately after I plug in the BNC connector in the back of the DVR and the picture image is generated, the DVR gives off a bad buzzing or humming noise. I call it feedback. It's so annoying it gives me a queezy feeling in the stomach.

The strange part of this buzzing is that is only occurs when I connect the cameras. I've tried connecting only one camera. I've tried connecting two cameras. I have buzzing with both situations.

I thought it might be the installation of the transformer of the cameras....but I have tried plugging the transformer into a different circuit in the house and I still get the buzzing when I connect the cameras.

Another strange thing this is that the buzzing doesn't stop when I disconnect the BNC connectors. The image disappears from the main monitor as to be expected, but the noise continues. The noise doesn't go away until I re-boot or re-start the DVR.

My question . . . does anyone have experience with this kind of troubleshooting? Can it be attributed to poorly assembled BNC ends? I doubt this is the the problem considering I get a pretty clear picture. However, I do have feedback presumably caused by connecting the BNC ends to the DVR.

check your fan....is this a new or used? if used, take off the case cover and blow it clean with a air compressor.

if that don't work it's sound like electrical and the only way to find that is to leave cover off and use a long handled wooden, WOODEN, chop stick type device to touch different devices inside the unit as you listen to the end of the wood stick. I know, sounds funny but it works.old mechanics trick that I used often to find noisy electronic "parts" the buzz will get louder as you get closer to the source. make sure you don't wear rings and necklaces as they can make your day exciting.

if your not comfortable with the electronis side of this you'll need to have it looked at.
