Digicam 120 from 123cctv

I bought a Digicam 120 capture card from 123cctv. From what I gather, the card is bt878 based. This card works with their digicam software. All the other alternatives I tried result in the same thing, a hard reboot of the PC in within a minute. I am suspecting some sort of hardware watchdog within the PCI card.

 

Here are some of the things I tried:

 

zoneminder live cd (latest version) - boots fine. reboots after 1 min with capture card in. PC runs fine with card removed.

 

active web cam software - i tried with both their driver (digicam 2769) and the btwincap driver (from sourceforge). pc reboots 1 minute after receiving video.

 

Digicam software - their software requires you to install their driver. their software has no mode to capture jpg, just dss. and only allowed to view video input through their active x control. I work at a place where active x is not allowed on the PC, and custom tcp is not allowed as well (which their control depends on) only port 80 via their proxy server and certain files (only html and jpg) hence their software is unsuitable.

 

I was curious if this "watchdog" is stroked via their software. via GPIO perhaps? and if their is a way I can snoop their software doing the stroking and incorporate this into custom code (maybe someone has already did all this work?)

I have worked alot with visual studio and have even developed a couple of device drivers (a few years ago). I would like to know if this has been done or if someone could offer me some tips to get started on this. Thanks.

1. Look at the power supply

 

2. Look at the prossesser fan heat issue

 

3. What changes did you make

 

4. Did it ever work or is it new

 

5. Is it used for anything else

 

6. You might have a stick of memory going bad

 

7. I had a motherboard go bad and do that also

 

try those and let us know.
