Oxide.Blu 0 Posted January 10, 2007 Is there a preference for one of those CCD sizes over the other or does it really matter? What is the performance difference, if any? Thanks!
kensplace 0 Posted January 10, 2007 Smaller ccd sizes are usually less light sensitive, so larger is usually better (obviously a old half inch will probably not be as good as a modern quarter inch, due to techy improvements, but like for like, the bigger the better). Lenses get more expensive the larger the ccd usually, as quality should improve.
Oxide.Blu 0 Posted January 12, 2007 Thanks, Kensplace. The PTZ dome I started looking at first is a 1/4-in sensor (Pelco Spectra IIIse). Oh, and sorry about that whole Beckham thing. We'll get him (and that Spice critter thingy) back to you shortly.
BurstElement 0 Posted February 2, 2007 Usually you'll find manufacturers use 1/4" sensors in speed domes so that they can reduce the overall length of the lens... bigger sensor = longer zoom lens.
Oxide.Blu 0 Posted February 8, 2007 Thanks, BurstElement (what a name! ) That is exactly where my question originates from, looking at speed domes.
rory 0 Posted February 8, 2007 You can even find some Sony Modules with 1.6" Chips.
